Our Lady of LaSalette

Our Lady of LaSalette was prefigured in the Old Testament by the story of the Prophet Jeremiah.  Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet, who wept for the future of Jerusalem.  He prophesied many evils that would befall the Jews and Jerusalem, and his message was suppressed by the priests and authorities.  Our Lady of LaSalette wept throughout Her Apparition, and foretold many evils that would befall Christians, and the Church.  The secret of Our Lady of LaSalette was suppressed and the seers were treated very badly by bishops and priests.

Prophesied Right Before the Invaders (Babylonians)

After the 10 Tribes broke away from the Covenant, and after the Assyrians conquered the northern tribes, the southern Kingdom of Judah was reduced to a tributary state of Babylon, but kept alliances with Egypt to try to balance Babylon’s power.

Jeremiah was prophesying in Jerusalem before the arrival of the Babylonians, who took the land of Judah and carried her inhabitants into exile in Babylon.

Weeping for the Future of God’s People

Jeremiah is known as the weeping prophet, because he shed tears because…

  1. What was about to happen to Jerusalem and God’s people
  2. That the Jews wouldn’t not listen to his warnings
  3. The Jews would not repent from offending God.

Prophesied About Antiochus in Jerusalem

In Jeremiah 6:27, Jeremiah prophecies about a tester, or a trier of God’s people that will be raised up among them. Other translations say it will be a tower or a fortress that will be raised up among God’s people, to test them and prove their way.

When Antiochus IV, Ephiphanes (the most direct prefigurment of the Anti-Christ) took over the Temple in Jerusalem, he constructed a fortress inside Jerusalem to secure his position. This fortress was called the “Acra”. Antiochus IV Ephiphanes took up his seat inside of Jerusalem.

Prophesied About a Famine in Judea

Jeremiah 14 prophesied about a famine that will come to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and Judea as a punishment for their sins.

Jews Have Failed to Keep Holy the Sabbath

Jeremiah 17 describes how the Jews didn’t keep the Sabbath, and how God was going to punish them for this transgression by bringing invaders to Jerusalem.

Wicked Priests

Jeremiah 5 denounces the priests as being corrupt. They are said to rule on their own authority (instead of God’s).

In Jeremiah 23, he denounces the shepherds of God’s people (the priests) because they have scattered and destroyed God’s flock, and God is going to punish them for this.

Message Isn’t Welcome

Jeremiah’s message was unwelcome by the priests and authorities of Jerusalem, particularly because of the nature of his prophesies. Jeremiah suffered greatly at the hands of Jewish authorities, and his message was suppressed by them.

Prophesied Right Before Invaders (Kingdom of Italy)

After the Protestant Revolt, and after the Ottoman Empire conquered much of Eastern Europe, the Papal States (the political/temporal remnant of Church authority) was reduced to a very weakened position (due in most part to the French Revolution and secularization across Europe). The Church was threatened by the Kingdom of Italy, who wanted to take the papal states, but depended on an alliance with Napoleon III, who was supposed to protect the papal states from Italian invasion.

Our Lady of LaSalette appeared in 1846, shortly before the Kingdom of Italy took the Papal States and the popes became “prisoner’s in the Vatican”.

Weeping for the Future of God’s People

Our Lady of LaSalette wept almost completely through Her Apparition. She said the following

  1. She foretold what was to happen to the ChurchHer people refuse to submit themselves, and She is forced to let go of the hand of Her Son.
  2. Her people refuse to submit themselves, and She is forced to let go of the hand of Her Son.Christians don’t cease offending God through not keeping holy the Lord’s Day and blasphemy.
  3. Christians don’t cease offending God through not keeping holy the Lord’s Day and blasphemy.

Prophesied About the Anti-Christ in Rome

Our Lady of LaSalette said “Rome will lose the Faith and become the seat of the Anti-Christ.”

Prophesied About a Famine in France

Our Lady of LaSalette prophesied about a great famine that would arrive, as a punishment for sins. She spoke of a shortage or blight of potatoes, which manifest in parts of Europe a year later.

Catholics Have Failed to Keep Holy the Lord’s Day

Our Lady of LaSalette described how no one keep holy the Lord’s day, and how Mass is unattended. She also accuses them of working on Sundays. 16 years after Our Lady of LaSalette, the Papal States (including Rome) were invaded and taken by the Kingdom of Italy.

Priests are Cesspools of Impurity

Our Lady of LaSalette says : “Priests, my Son’s ministers, priests, by their evil life, by their irreverences and their impiety in celebrating the holy mysteries, love of money, love of honor and pleasures, priests have become cesspools of impurity. Yes, priests call forth vengeance, and vengeance is suspended over their heads. Woe to priests, and to persons consecrated to God, who by their infidelities and their evil life are crucifying my son anew! The sins of persons consecrated to God cry to heaven and call for vengeance, and now here is vengeance at their very doors…”

Message Isn’t Welcome

Parts of the messages of LaSalette were suppressed by the Bishops of France, particularly because of the devestating prophecies that were made by Our Lady. The sees of Our Lady of LaSalette were treated by badly by clergy, in efforts to discredit them or interrogate them. The reputations of the seers were also greatly damaged.
